The Ogden Utah Temple sits on a 9.96 acre site near the heart of Ogden. It was the fifth temple to be built in Utah, but the first dedicated under statehood; the previous four were dedicated when Utah was still a US territory.

It was the first to be built with six ordinance rooms to allow for sessions to start every 20 minutes, prompted by a statistic computed in the mid-1960s which also prompted the construction of it’s sister temple in Provo Utah. It was shown that 52 percent of all ordinance work was being done in the Logan Utah Temple, the Manti Utah Temple, and the Salt Lake Temple; showing a big need for more capacity along the North Utah Wasatch Front.

The temple spire was originally gold in color, but after the Angel Moroni was added in 2002, the spire was painted white. Then in 2010 the temple was completely demolished and reconstruction under an entirely new granit design began. The new temple still has the six ordinance rooms – an amount shared only by three other temples (Provo Utah Temple, Jordan River Utah Temple, and Washington D.C. Temple) – and contains over 112,232 square feet of space.
